STRUCTURE AND SPIRIT OF OUR INSTITUTE
Our Institute, of pontifical right, dedicated to the works of pastoral ministry, is made up of clerics and lay members who both live in community and pursue the gospel counsels.
Our vowed way of life, brotherly rapport and Nazarene mission are the integrating factors of our calling. In patterning our lives after the example of the Dwelling of Nazareth and acclaiming that Household as the matchless school for all Christian families, we outline our service in the Church and obtain our rightful place among its religious communities. Such endeavors gift our way of life with a precise meaning and definite style.
This nazarene life form, bequeathed by our Founder is the invariable of our history and the family spirit which both identifies and distinguishes us in the Church and the world.
APPROVAL BY THE HOLY SEE
On April 30,1887, Pope Leo XIII issued the "Decretum Laudis" approving the work of the new institute, praising and encouraging its mission with the family.
On June 20, 1901, the Holy See officially approved the Congregation and ratified the Constitutions. Father Manyanet lived only six months longer. He died at the Motherhouse in Barcelona, Spain on December 17, 1901.
Besides the example of his apostolate and holy life, he left to his spiritual family numerous writings and books. He had a surprisingly active career as founder, youth leader, sociologist and author. His writings range from mystical theology, meditations, pedagogy to vocational instruction, sociology and racial problems.
Following the example of the many-sided activities of our Founder, we Sons of the Holy Family use any of the means laid before us in spreading devotion to Jesus, Mary and Joseph. The primary object of our Congregation is the education of youth and re Christianization of the family. Today the Sons of the Holy Family also carry out their mission as parish priests, retreat directors, military and hospital chaplains, youth leaders as well as teachers, embracing all the possible phases of youth and family ministries.

OUR DAILY SCHEDULE
Father Manyanet states that "the daily schedule, the life of a religious of the Holy Family results from a good mixture of prayer and hard work, namely, a life of fellowship with God and zeal for saving others...hence, he is to perfect not only himself but be devoted as well to saving others with the same zeal." Our vowed way of life as Sons of the Holy Family is, therefore, one that is at the same time both religious and pastoral. We are fortified by the abundant spiritual life of our schedule, which is an imitation of the work and prayer of the Holy Family.
